Business Entities (Corporations), Securities, and Finance

Corporate lawyers deal mainly with the organic functions of business entities.  In other words, they help create business entities by forming them, buying them (that’s Mergers and Acquisitions, often called M&A), helping them issue securities (whether through an IPO or subsequently), complying with corporate and securities law requirements, and not least, getting the companies exempted from as many of those requirements as possible.  Generally speaking, this is what lawyers mean when they refer to “corporate law” or a “corporate and securities” practice.
